Executive Summary | In some airports which have a great number of air transportation, pavement maintenance and repair works should be conducted within very short time. That might bring serious incident for aircrafts. In order to keep safety under such a serious condition, the authors have investigated a new technique called Solar Radiation Reflective Pavement (SRRP) which restrains rutting phenomenon on surface. From results of some thermal tests and loading tests, it becomes clear that the technique decreased the temperature of pavement surface, and that leads to restrain softening of asphalt pavements. In case of summer condition, the technique decreases the temperature of pavement surface from 60oC to 48oC, which makes resistance for rutting phenomena higher. Through a construction trial, the authors reach the conclusion that the new technique is useful for pavements under loadings of the airport. |
