Executive Summary

On October 6, 2000, an earthquake of Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) Magnitude 7.3 hit western part of Tottori prefecture, Japan. The latitude and longitude of the epicenter was 35°16.5'N, 133°20.9'E. This earthquake caused damage to many port facilities in the earthquake-affected area, resulting in the damages of about 4.3 billion yen for public port facilities.
 This report presents results of the field investigations on damage to port facilities and an airport by the survey teams, including the authors of this report, and dispatched by the relevant governmental organizations.
 This report presents earthquake ground motions in port areas, and details of damage to port and airport facilities, including quay walls and a runway. This report does not include analysis of earthquake damage.
