Executive Summary

In this study, the development of cold-laid composite mixture of cement and asphalt emulsion for airport pavement was carried out. At first, some laboratory tests were carried out to select an optimal mix proportion, on taking notice of the plastic flow resistance under heavy load condition at airport pavement and the dry shrinkage. Next, field tests were carried out, and the properties of construction and performance were confirmed.
The following results were obtained in this reports.
(1)Increase of cement volume is most effective to ipmrove the plastic flow resistance and the surface properties of pavement. However, it causes the increase of dry shrinkage. Therefore, it is desirable to add cement at approximately 3.7%.
(2)By increasing the asphalt emulsion, drying shrinkage cracking is reduced, however plastic flow resistance also deteriorated. Therefore, it is desirable to add an asphalt emulsion at approximately 9.5%.
(3)For airport pavement loaded with heavy traffic, cold-laid composite mixture can be used as binder course of the pavement requiring high plastic flow resistance.
