Executive Summary

When planning and designing port facilities, the specifications of target ships are one of the most important conditions. The target vessel is the largest vessel that is expected to use the facility. If the target ship is identified, the specifications can be used as they are, but if not, the ship specifications must be calculated from the ship type and DWT/GT of the target ship.
Based on the above points of view, this document classifies the ships currently in service in Japan and the world. We calculated the original drainage tonnage and length between perpendiculars by statistical analysis, etc., and provided basic data for planning and designing port facilities. This document clarifies the calculation method for the specifications of the target ship, and makes it possible to obtain the results when the calculation conditions are changed as necessary. The ship data used are ``Lloyd's Register of Ships (1995.6.1)'' and ``Japan Ship Specifications (1995)''.
