The phenomena of littoral drift and the change of beach to-pography are deeply affected by local characteristics of the coast. The main subject in this paper is to make clear the cause of these locality of characteristics of beach and to delimitate the coastal area into several regions haveing similler characteristics from the standing point of coastal engineering.
　The discussion on the distribution of important factors affecting to the character of beach results a proposition on the delimitation of coastal regions as shown in Fig.-4.2.
