Executive Summary

The authors investigated some aspects of design method of port facilities. They are
1.Stability of composite breakwaters in earthquakes, and
2.Minimum thickness of mound and thickness of concrete caisson cap of gravity quaywalls.
In 1., the authors prepared graphs which make it easy to judge whether the breakwater designed for wave pressures should be examined for dynamic water pressures during earthquakes or not.
In 2., the authors suggested that thickness of mound should be 0.5-1.0m at least, and standard thickness of concrete caisson cap should be 20cm, based on the investigation on many existing gravity quaywalls.
Other else, the authors Investigated damage of apron pavements.
