Executive Summary

The main points of finite eiement formulations for pseudo three-and three-dimensional theories of consolidation are summarized. This method is general with respect to geometry, boundary conditions and material properties.
Some examples on one-and two-dimensional consolidation problems are presented and compared with closed form solutions to demonstrate accuracy and applicability.
