In recent years, a shortage of dredged soil landfill is one of the serious issues in coastal construction in Japan. To avoid the issue, it is strongly desired to study on applications for dredged soil in several types of geomaterial.
Mixture of dredged soil and steel slag (MDS) has been studied as one of the applications of dredged soil for geomaterial because MDS has a self-hardening property, and it could be expected to have large strength after mixing. For example, it is considered a way to increase ground level for an intertidal flat and seagrass bed in a coastal area.
Our division studies on effect of mixing condition on mechanical properties of MDS.
