Executive Summary

It is essential to apply the anticorrosive coating and/or the cathodic protection to port steel structures such as steel pipe pile and steel sheet pile which are subjected to a severe corrosive environment. Therefore the corrosion-protective components should keep their performance with appropriate maintenance consisting of inspection, assessment, and intervention during their service lives. This paper firstly carried out reviews of the previous studies related to practical maintenance procedures of the corrosion-protective components. Then a flow for each corrosion-protective component is provided based on the deterioration grade which is decided by visual inspection. This paper is expected to assist the port engineers in formulating maintenance and management plans and selecting an appropriate intervention. Some points of attention are also given in terms of selecting intervention of the components.

Key Words: Port steel structures, anticorrosive coating, cathodic protection, deterioration grade, repair
