Executive Summary

The Central Japan International Airport, which having 3,500m of runway and aiming at 20 millions of passengers in 2025, is under constructing at offshore of Tokoname city. The construction site is 35 km south of Nagoya city on the Ise bay.It is planned to open just before the opeimg of 'Aichi Intermational exhibition' From the point of construction condition, that it was rather difficult to obtain the whole reclamation soil from mountainous area because of environmental restriction etc.,and promotion of recycling, the dredged soil excavated at Nagoya port was planned to use as 20% of reclamation material for the man-made island.Almost of the dredged soil is rather soft. Therefore, about 10million cubic meters of dredged soil is stabilized by Pneumatic Flow Mixing Method, because it was difficult to improve a man-maid island by usual consolidation methods after reclamation from the economical and time point of view. The mixture, transpoted and deposited at reclamation site, gains relatively large strength so that no additinal soil improvement is usually required.
In this article, the design procedure of the treated soil, the development progress of constuction technique and quality control methods are evaluated as well as the strength profile of the island.
