Executive Summary
FRPM (Fiber Reinforced Plastic Mortar) pipes are nowadays used for sewage pipes in airports to take their advantages of light weight, easy installation, etc. However those pipes of more than 2000mm in diameter have not been embedded under the pavement in airport to date. To verify their mechanical behaviors, field tests have been executed. In the tests, furthermore, the effect of elasticity of filling materials to behaviors of the pipes has been investigated. The design method of the pipes is proposed based on the test results and analytical results by the finite element method.
The following main conclusions are drawn through the study:
(1)Embedding more than one pipes with diameter of larger than 2000mm has been confirmed from the view point of structural behaviors.
(2)Mixed slag and stabilized sand, have been made clear to be used as filling materials.
(3)A new design method has been proposed to modify the latest proposed method to take the effects into consideration as theelasticity of filling materials, plastic deformation, and numbers of pipes.
