Executive Summary

The numbers of reformation to coast-preservation structures have recently been increasing because of improvement of their coastal amenities and retention of adequate safety against natural disasters. During design and execution stages of reformation, we have to pay special attention to do because of restrictions due to existing structures, but unfortunately no specifications and standards have been provided to date. The authors have surveyed the actual conditions of reformed coast-preservation structures under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport. A total of 452 examples of reformed facilities such as revetments, embankments, jetties, detached breakwaters, parapet walls, water gates, and levee openings has been collected. In this present report, 298 examples are compiled with regard to standard cross sections and details and reasons of reformation.
