Executive Summary

An applicability of Roller Compacted Concrete Pavement (RCCP) to port pavements has been discussed. To develop the design method for port RCCP, both its bearing capacity and a load transfer efficiency at joint must be clarified. The following conclusions are obtained.
1)In RCCP with thick RCC placing in two layers, strucnded. Thin RCC on CTB with high stregth can be treated as a composite slab where bonding rate between RCC and CTB is 20%.
2)Some special consideration is needed to assure load transfer at joint as conventional types of joints cannot be used in RCCP. Joint opening must be kept small by installing joints with small spacing to keep the sufficient load transfer.
3)Untreated surface is sufficient in skid resistance on RCCP although grooving method is much more effective to increase it.
4)From construction viewpoint, thin RCC with small spaced dummy joints on strengthened base is desirable.
