Executive Summary

In this study, some bending characteristics were examined for prestressed concrete beams stressed with loops of Aramid fiber ropes connected by nonmetalic device. The objectives of this study are as follows : (1)To develop a new nonmetalic devices for connecting the aramid fiver ropes using epoxy mortar. (2)To evaluate the bending behavior of the prestressed concrete beams prestressed with Aramid fiber ropes. (3)To assure the stability of effective prestress of thesee beams. The summary of the results is shown below : (4)The connecting device developed in this study has good performance as the conventional metalic devices. (5)The bending behaviors, such as ultimate load, ultimate deflection, and curvature, are similar to those of beams prestressed with steel bars.
