Executive Summary

 The traffic volume study on read for port traffic was carried out in 1985 for the purpose of obtaining basic data for the improvement of road for port fraffic. On the study, field survey was carried out on 462 points in 26 main ports in japan.
 Results of the survey are summerized and road condition, categorised traffic volume and characteristics of port traffic are analyzed on the study. Major results of the study are shown on this report.
 As a result of the study, characteristics of traffic on road for port traffic are different from those on major Japanese highways and it can be said that road for port traffic should be planned based on these special characteristics.
