Executive Summary

In a large-scale reclamation work of fill type, it is very important to find out the optimum number of barges carrying soils and stones, the degree of barge traffic congestion in working water area, the optimum number of sand-loading piers, and the appropriate sand supplying speed by the belt conveyor, and so on. This report introduces the basic concept to solve the above problems, using technics of systems analysis and barge traffic simulation. All of the data were obtained during planning process of the New Kansai International Airport Construction project, but they do not constitute final data.
