Executive Summary

For the prediction of topographic change of sea bottom in the field, clarifying the quantitative characteristics of sediment transport in prototype scale is essential.
The present paper deals with laboratory study to find out the most appropriate method of quantitative observation of sediment transport to be applied in the field. Tests were carried out for two components of sediment transport, that is, onshore/offshore transport and alongshore transport.
Based upon the finding of the above tests and the review of various experiences in the past, an equipment to measure the rate of sediment transport in the field is developed.
