Executive Summary

 Hokkaido area was attacked by the earthquake with magnitude of 7.1, originated 20 km off Urakawa on March 21, 1982. This earthquake brought about much damage to various kinds of facilities such as port facilities and highway facilities, Concerned with port facilities. Port of Urakawa and Port of Muroran were damaged mainly in their copings and aprons of quaywalls; these damages amounted to 350 Mil.Yen.
 In this report, the damage to port facilities of Port of Urakawa and Port of Muroran are described in detail from the resutls of fields investigations.
 Thisreport also contains data on ground motion observed at 9 stations in the strong-motion earthquake observation network in port areas.
