Directly after the tsunami, the Port and Harbour Research Institute made the field investigations for the areas along the Japan Sea from Hokkaido to Noto Penisula located at the middle of Japan main island in cooperation with many concerning organizations. This report describes the actual conditions of tsunami attacks and damages on the basis of the field investigations and several hydraulic aspects of the tsunami on the basis of laboratory experiments and theoretical calculations.
