Executive Summary

The design of airport concrete pavements is based on Westergaard's formulas in many countries. These formulas are so complicated that the influence charts developed by Pickett and Ray have been used practically for pavement design. They, however, have a few restrictions. Furthermore, it is difficult to count exactly the blocks covered by the diagrams showing the tire imprimts.
In this paper, to make up for these defects, Westergaard's formulas for deflections and bending moments in both interior and edge loading conditions, were computerized in place of Pickett and Ray's influence charts. In addition to the program description, some results of application studies are presented.
