Executive Summary

There have been done many studies on the ships' Waiting in port, but their application to the specialized marine terminals have also been restricted by the over simplification of models.
In this paper, characteristics of ships, of berths and their interactions are made clear. Models are formulated by considering the following 6 characteristics, then classified into 8 patterns.
1) ways of berth allocation
2) loading-unloading facilities
3) depth of berth
4) length of ship
5) types of cargoes
6) draft of ship at berth
Aa an example, waiting line of small size tankers at the loading berth of oil refinery has been analyzed by a simulation model which is corresponding to the one of the abovementioned 8 patterns.
