In the major ports in Japan strong-motion earthquake and earthquake response of structures have been observed since 1962, and as of December 1972 about 730 acelerograms were collected. The observation network consists of 60 strong-motion accelerographs at 39 ports.
　The present report is the eighth publication in the series, reporting accelerograms obtained in 1972. The report presents lists of all the accelerograms with maximum accelerations and earthquake data, digitized and plotted records, response spectra and Fourier spectra of accelerograms of large amplitude. Average response spectra for each stations are included as an appendix.
