Executive Summary

The levelling vessel Kinryu Maru was built for the purpose of levelling the sea bottom which is bumpy as a result of dredging by a hopper dredger.
This time, in order to investigate its levelling ability the field test was conducted at a few spots wits different soil, in Port Shimizu.
The test revealed that in that case of soft clayey material (shearing stress measured by a vane tester is 0.13 to 0.19kg/cm2) we could level the sea bottom successfully by using its levelling blade, but that it was defficult to level the sea bottom with sandy material or that mixed with gravel (the Standard Penetration test's N value is 10 to 20).
The results of this test will suggest that further improvement of this levelling blade must be examined to the sea-bed with such materials.
