Executive Summary

Experiments on the effect of scour prevension were made qualitatively for different types of sea walls, such as vartical face, sloped face, stepped face sea walls, as well as the sea walls which have armour block facing, pavement at and offshoreward of the toe, or offshore breakwater composed of blocks. Waves of flat wave steepness were acted on the model beach until it attains the equilibrium condition. The above different type of sea walls were set on the shoreline of equilibrium profile and waves of relatively steep wave steepness were acted again on it for a given time. The effect of scour prevention due to each type of sea wall was evaluated by comparing the profile after wave action.
