A pair of 35 mm memo-motion cameras was introduced to the field observation of cargo handling activities on a wharf apron.
　Procedures and related problems of the first observation in Port of Yokohama are briefly reported herein.
　Throughout this study, efforts are concentrated to establish a standerdized procedure from taking photo to analizing film.
　This system of observation, by its accuracy and flexibility, will be an effective tool to the wide range of field observations on port activities.
