This report describes laboratory and fie'd tests made to investigate effectiveness of quicklime as stabilizer of soft alluvial clays of high water content in harbour disricts.
　The quicklime mixing method significantly improves the unconfined compressive strengths, consolidation characteristics and plasticities.
　In the field test, the quicklime pile method was applied to extremely soft ground reclaimed by alluvial clays, the effectiveness of which was recongnized, and the fundamental datawere obhained for planning and executing of this type of stabilization.
