Executive Summary

Observation of strong motion earthquakes in major ports in Japan was started in 1962 by the Earthquake Resistant Structure Laboratory, the Port and Harbour Research Institute, in co-operation with the Resional Harbour Construction Bureaus. Up to June 1968, 54 accelerogrphs were installed in 34 ports and about 300 records were collected.
This paper presents the lists of records taken in 1963 and 1964 with their maximum accelerations and the information on earthquakes for which the records were taken. The copies of the records, digitized records, response spectra and results of Fourier analysis are shown for the records whose maximun acceleration is larger than 20 gals.
