Greetings
Director General Coastal disaster prevention has been one of the major tasks of PARI since its inauguration in 1946. After 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, Tsunami Research Center was founded to enhance tsunami disaster prevention research, which was reorganized in 2010 into Asia-Pacific Center for Coastal Disaster Research (APaC-CDR) for enhancing the international cooperation especially with Asian and Pacific countries and aiming at comprehensive disaster prevention in coastal areas. APaC-CDR’s goal is "No Casualty in Coastal Disasters", and it conducts surveys of major coastal disasters to reveal real features of the disasters. APaC-CDR investigates the mechanism of the disasters and develops numerical simulation models to predict the disasters. Also, it is working on the development of real-time disaster prediction and their countermeasures. |
