Current and water quality measurement system installed inside Isewan Ferry "Ise-Maru"

photo

Current and water quality at the mouth of Tokyo Bay are observed using Isewan Ferry "Ise-Maru".
Ise bay is a semi-enclosed bay and large amount of people live around the bay. In summer, large anoxic water spreads inside the bay because of heavy eutrification. In order to regenerate the water quality inside Ise bay, environmental information is needed, especially at the mouth of Ise bay. The observation started in 2008. Current is observed using ADCP installed at the bottom of the ferry. Sea surface Temperature and salinity are observed pumping up sea water from sea chest of the ferry.
